An Open letter to families and youth from the Eastern Arabian Horse Show & East Coast Championships
In August of this year the Youth Nationals Show Commission signed an agreement with the New Mexico State Fair for use of the grounds in Albuquerque through 2012.
A number of years ago, with Youth Nationals being continuously held in the west, some folks thought to consider an eastern location for a year end show for the youth that didn't have the ability to make the trip across the country. The idea was batted about but eventually dropped when nothing firm could be agreed upon.
Moving forward the idea has been considered again; only this time it is going ahead; it's about time. With the relocation of the East Coast Championships to the Virginia Horse Center, the dates being the first weekend in August and the shows' long history, it seemed an ideal time and place to rekindle the idea. In 2009 there will be the first annual East Coast YOUTH Championships & East Coast Championships.
For those of you not familiar with the Eastern Arabian Horse Show & East Coast Championships there will be the added emphasis on YOUTH classes. We have commissioned a dedicated trophy and awards specifically for Youth classes. The best thing is it is a show for the ENTIRE family and professionals alike!
In addition to the already full slate of classes, there will be an expansion of YOUTH classes in all divisions, clinics, parties, the famous Tack Trunk Raffle, a great Bazaar area and a whole lot more. The Eastern Arabian Horse Show will celebrate its Golden Anniversary while the East Coast Championships is in its 52nd year.
The Virginia Horse Center in Lexington Virginia, www.horsecenter.org, is the perfect facility to host the shows. Over 1000 stalls are available, a coliseum, indoor arena, covered arena, Dressage rings, Hunter rings, working rings, even a cross country course and plenty of space just to relax. The surrounding area lends itself to day trips for those not into the equine activities.
With all of these changes we are seeking sponsors for the Youth Championships. There are several levels that include Show, Division, multiple classes, individual classes and activities.
It's about time!
Sincerely,
The Eastern Arabian Horse Show & East Coast Championships Committee |
